Spending three days near Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho. Did a little biking, took a couple of scenic drives, some browsing in local crafty/artsy shops, took in a local farmers market. . .nothing terribly exciting but we managed to fill the days. Apparently it is huckleberry season. I am not sure I knew what a huckleberry was but they seem to be a local specialty. I get the sense that they grow wild in the “high country” and not cultivated in garden
s. We have tried the jam and the huckleberry flavored icecream and agree it is pretty good.
We celebrated my birthday with a nice quiet dinner at a Sandpoint restaurant overlooking a bay of Lake Pend Oreille. We toasted another good year.

The lake at sunset and a surprise look at a Bald Eagle.
