Checking out the Bowls

We were working today at ICS getting ready for the "Empty Bowls" event coming up in a couple of weeks. We have collected over 800 bowls so we put them all out in the parking lot, (social distanced and masked up) sorted, catagorized, and individually wrapped them all ready to be distributed.

Will even got in on it. He was there to lift boxes, move tables-- he even wrapped some bowls. Big job but lots of volunteers made it almost fun. Plus it was a sunny Arizona 80 degree day.

I made the local newspaper!

 "Empty Bowls" is coming up the first of March so the count down is on.  I have all my bowls ready and am involved in picking up bowls from other clay artists in town.  Today I opened up our local Arizona Star, Tucson's newspaper and there was that picture of me in my studio and a very good article promoting the event for Inter Faith Community Services and the local food bank. Got a heads up that I would be quoted in the article but not expecting the big picture!!  

Back to church

St Andrew's Presbyterian is back. Church has been on line with building closed since last March until today. Everyone masked up, distanced, all protocols in place. Not a whole lot of people actually came. . .it's still being streamed to homes. We decided to come. And it felt really good to be there in person.  Worshipping at home is fine, we actually liked the comfort of it. But being in the sanctuary just felt right too.

Just knew it was going to be a good day with a sunrise like this one!

Happy New Year!

Happy Lunar New Year. It's Chinese New Year. Festivities will go on for a while. Plenty of time to celebrate and enjoy the holiday, Spring Festival.

Will got his second Covid-19 vaccine shot today. Confusing trying to get registered but the actual vaccine delivery was efficient and almost pleasant. Will had no side effects.

I am scheduled to get my first shot Feb 28.

I had a visit to my studio from Terry from ICS (Interfaith Community Services) and a videographer to interview me for a documentary program that is going to be made available for streaming during the Empty Bowls fundraiser coming in March. My interview will be just a small part of a collection of interviews that the pros will put together to promote the theme of caring for the needs of those in need in our community.

I was nervous, but turned out to be sorta fun. Although she asked a lot of leading questions that I couldn't take anywhere. . .now I can think of how I should have answered!!

Will's newest stained glass

Will has been working on this outdoor stained glass for a while and today he installed in in our front courtyard. It was quite a challenge figuring out not only how to execute it but how to install it so that it is durable and yet still has the delicate look of glass. It is great, I love it.
