Off to the White Mountains!!

On our way--after a short delay--to the White Mountains of Arizona. Beautiful 3-4 hour drive from home to Show Low, Pinetop, Lakeside area. Plan to hang out here for maybe a month. Still waiting for definitive diagnosis of Will's health issue but we can wait that out while enjoying the mountain environment as well as home! He is good.
I have taken so many pictures of Salt River Canyon over the years--always look forward to crossing it to get to northern Arizona.
We stopped at Han-Dah RV Park near Show Low for a few days while we figure out where we want to be for the time here. No hurry to move, this is on the White River Apache Indian Reservation and has lots of places to explore.
First thing to notice--we definitely left Tucson heat behind--it was 36 degrees when we got up this morning! But sun soon warmed it up into the 70's. Perfect mountain summer.

Arizona Veterans Cemetery

Quite a moving sight to see every grave marked with an American flag on Memorial Day.
Lovely reflective spot.

Starting Summer anyway

We are still at home in Tucson, watching and waiting as full diagnos and action plans slowly moves forward--but we are staying active and living our best life.
Took off for the holiday Memorial Day weekend and drove "up the mountain" and enjoyed a "tiny home" rental for two nights. Hiked, birded, ate out, enjoyed the cool mountain weather and the little mountain town of Summerhaven.

Delay

That's the RV--all packed--ready to take off for the summer!! But alas. .
It's still in the driveway.  We didn't leave -- big interruption.
Inconvenient medical issue stopped us for now.  The day before departure date, Will discovered a sudden decline in vision in his right eye. Couldn't ignore it. Eye doctor saw him right away, determined it needed immediate attention of a specialist.
So right now we are testing, waiting for results to confirm and name diagnosis. And then decide what's next. We are just hanging loose--he is fine, can drive, read, no pain. . .but it needs to attended to.   Actually very thankful that we were not on the road when this showed up!

60 years of memories --

We had a lovely lunch today at Tangue Verde Ranch. Was a lovely spot to reminisce as we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary here 9 years ago with the whole clan in attendance.
Today we were celebrating  some other memorable occasions. First of all, It was 60 years ago that Will and I met on a blind date.
Also a Mother's Day treat. And for good measure, celebrating my long passed Mother's 99th birthday.  Lots of remembering, lots of family stories to lovingly remember. And lunch was excellent --its still a top notch spot in Tucson!

Sabino Canyon Outing

Interesting how one loses track of places in town that once were frequent hangouts, favorite hiking trails. The "Phoneline Trail" was a favorite for years--until we decided we weren't up for that challenge anymore.
We took the electric tram up canyon about 4 miles to the end of the road and then walked back down about 2 miles where we caught that tram again to bring us back to visitor center. A pretty day, enjoying an especially beautiful desert canyon!

A Great performance at Arizona Theater Company

What a Hoot! The comedic timing was perfect as 5 actors played the parts of 30 characters! A screaming romp --all laughs--great lines--really fast costume changes!!
