I participated in my first art show yesterday. My friend pottery friend Margory opens her home in the foothills every year and invites several artists to participate in a "Arte en el Jardin" (Art in the Garden.) With fear and trembling, I joined the in group this year and set up my little table under a flowering palo verde tree. It was a beautiful day in the garden with lots of people, great variety of artists, good friends, food, and a guitarist playing to set the mood! I actually sold a few pieces, and then traded for some great pieces from other artists which was the most fun!

I should have taken more pictures of this garden--it is quite incredible. Marg is the artist, but her husband designed and created the incredible landscaping. It goes on and on, worth stopping just to see the work he has done. Everywhere you look there is another little intimate space defined by some special planting or desert wall or raised bed. There was iron works, jewelry, paintings, potters, glass artist, copper hummingbird feeders (really cool, I outright bought one of these,) nice variety of creative people selling their fun stuff. She doesn't advertise except by word of mouth and signs that go up the morning of the show. Now in its third year and has gotten quite a nice following. And there were so many cars parked on the street that it drew many people just passing by.
