I was working away in my studio today-- had the screen door open and suddenly a hummingbird flew in!! Now she is in the room, flying about and can't figure her way back out the door. She flies to the big window and repeatedly flies into it trying to get out!. I tried to coax her tword the door but she is not having any of that. Suddenly she falls to the window sill and I make a mad dash to grab her. She did not fight me at all and I felt like I was holding a fairy!!
Grabed my phone for a couple of quick pictures and then let her go. She flew up to perch on a vine on the patio and proceeded to preen herself for a very long time. Think she was trying hard to figure out what just happened!!
I recently participated in a community Salt Fire. A pottery friend invited anyone who would like to bring some bisque fired clay pieces and come for an evening pot luck and watch the kiln heat to temperature. When it got to right temperature, she removed a couple of bricks and threw in rock salt. A chemical reaction happens in side the kiln, the salt "volumizes", settles on the pots and glazes them in a wonderful warm sort of crackly/speckly finish. I added some touches of black underglaze to mine and they turned out really nice.
Too short of time for all we had to do! They could only stay two days so we packed it in. . .plus a lot of catching up on our families and our lives. We were neighbors when our kids were little in Oakdale, Minnesota and have remained close friends over the years. We just pick right up where we left off each time we see each other.

We mostly just hung around and enjoyed each other but we did visit the Stingray exhibit at the Desert Museum and had fun "touching " them as thier soft bodies slid over or under our submerged hands.
Tammy and the girls have A new address. Will went out for a few days to help her put shelves together, set up beds, and get ready to live in. She is a few blocks from the Parks and across the street from Lisa's school. Her business office is in lower level, All very convconvenient!
Interfaith Community Services, the food bank and community service provider for Tucson partnered with the potters community in Tucson in an effort to raise money for the local food bank. The empty bowls is a reference to feeding the hungry in our communities.
Jada, who happens to be "my" teacher and friend coordinated the effort and got local potters to donate something like 1600 hand made bowls. For a $20 entrance you got to sample soups and bread and deserts from local restaurants, listen to some nice music outdoors PLUS pick out your favorite bowl.

There was a silent auction also with items donated by local businesses and individuals. They picked out 5 bowls from the assortment to enter the silent auction. I was pleasantly surprised to see one of mine.
Our lemon tree is producing a ton of lemons. The branch's are being pulled low laden with fruit. And the new season blossoms are filling the back yard with the sweetest fragrance ever. Definatly spring here.
Wish I could bring everyone a bag of lemons. I don't know what to do with all of them. I still have juice in the freezer from last year.
