Rainy Days

It's been raining. Typical mountain weather,  in the morning the sky is clear but as day goes on the clouds roll in for an afternoon shower.

Got rained out Fishing at Rio Grand Reservoir.

They weren't biting today--this beautiful brown trout was just showing off and taunting me! So I "caught" him with my camera!

Came upon a large patch of Blue Columbines on a hike--Colorado state flower. 

Exploring

Started out fishing at Continental Reservoir this morning. Unlike yesterday, the fish just were not cooperating so we gave up and took a drive instead.

Out exploring! On the Alpine Loop out of Lake City -- could go all the way to Silverton on this road but it deteriorates the farther up toward Engineer Mountain Pass --we are not into that rough of off-roading so we enjoyed the views just so far and then turned back to town. 

Clear Creek falls, worth a stop!

I post this picture every time we come through here. It's a bit raining but it looks over the valley to Stoney Peak where the headwaters of Rio Grand River are located.

Another breathtaking hike near Creede.

Stoping to admire some rugged landforms and we caught site of this guy.

He's a Pica, a high altitude rodent that has the cute face almost like a rabbit. They hibernate 8 to 9 months out of a year so their short summer is busy with gathering enough to eat!

Wildflowers abound on this trail!

We made our way to Creede--outside of town along the Rio Grand River.

All set up at Antler's Lodge and RV Park. Sorry about sideways look--dont know how to fix it!!  Nice spot, we look forward to staying here every time we come thru.

And of course, first stop is at Fremans, down the road a few more miles for THE best hamburgers around!  Noticed they are doing some remodeling -- adding on more seating, a bigger gift shop, and fisherman's store. Reconfigured the ice cream shop and more. Will definitely be back for ice cream before we leave.

Up early to fish Love Lake. Between us we caught 7 trout. Good way to start our week!
