We were in Omaha, Nebraska for the 4th of July. Again we got the last campsite in a very pleasant Walnut Creek Recreation Area very near Doc and Sharon Watson's lovely home in Bellevue. Sharon had remembered reading about an air boat ride on the North Platte River, and of course we were anxious to give it a try. What a perfect summer day for a streaming ride over the shallow sand dunes and down the river!
! We stopped in mid stream for pictures on a sand bar before heading back. Great fun! We tried a runza for lunch in Fremont (hard to describe--hot dish backed in a bread crust), took in the SAC Air and Space Museum and drove thru an animal park. We (sorta) saw a big herd of elk resting in the tall prairy grass. Made for a surreal photograph. Ended the day with a great fireworks show at the ConAgra park along the M
issouri River. A great day with great friends
